Best ball part of Thursday twilight

Posted Jun 14, 2012 By EMC News

EMC Sports - Smiths Falls Nissan was behind the wheel of the June 7 edition of the Thursday Night Men's Twilight and they didn't steer us wrong, offering up a huge prize table and an evening of great golf action.

The format was Twilight Best Ball, which made for a more challenging night for those used to the standard scramble, indicated by some higher than usual scores.

On the front nine, Kyle Warren, Kris Kerfoot, Kyle Robertson, Jason Loughren, and Shawn Ferguson rose to the challenge, posting the low A Division low score of 34. "The Table" (a.k.a. Bruno Patti, Don Ross, Curdy Wood, Howard Jeffries, Ray Blair. Al Ryan, and Bob James), relied on its combined half millennium of golf experience to coast to the B Division title, with a very respectable 37.

Things heated up on the back nine, with Roy Leach, John Tobin, Mark Brus, Tom Henderson, and Jeff Drummond inviting John McKenney to join them, in place of Rocky Rotundo. John was asked to wear a Groucho Marx nose and moustache, and encouraged to grumble and argue with everyone. The strategy seemed to work, with the team posting a low A Division score of 29. Troy Wall, Colin Brown, Gerry Simmons, Goldie Dixit, and Hugh Gillespie didn't need any disguises, they rolled in with the low B Division tally of 33.
