Henderson moves up at Canadian amateur championships
Posted Jul 25, 2012 By EMC NewsAfter opening with a five over-par 77 on Tuesday, Smiths Falls’ Brooke Henderson bounced back with a two under-par 70 and sits tied for 13th place at the midway mark of the 2012 Royale Cup Canadian Women’s Amateur golf championship.
Now playing in Lethbridge, Alberta, following her run at the U.S. Junior championships last week, the 14 year-old phenom (at 147, +3) jumped 20 spots with her strong performance on day two and is poised to move up even further over the final two days.
Ariya Jutunanugarn of Thailand, with whom Henderson was paired for the first two days of the championship, sits first with a two-day total of 136 (-8). Jutunanugarn is the top ranked amateur in the world.
